FINALLY! Small businesses can get some relief, just like every other business. If you have not heard, the federal government is providing ARC loans to small, distressed businesses.
If you are a small business that is having trouble paying your bills, you may qualify. The loans are through your local bank, so you have to go to www.sba.gov to see what banks are participating. When you get to the home page, click on ARC to get to the page.

In a recent Business Week article, Chase is reportedly pulling more credit lines of small businesses. As business owners, we know having lines of credit are essential to running our business - now more than ever.
So what can you do? Start looking for other ways to secure a "line". Talk to your small business center representative. You could also look for private lenders that would be willing to lend money for a specific rate. In today's credit world, you have to think outside the box to keep your business going. We are not out of the woods yet, but we are stating to see some light.
You have heard me say it before, but customer service can kill your business....it if it bad. Just the other day, I was speaking with a particular industry and had results on each end of the spectrum.
In today's economy, can you believe there are people that are not jumping to serve a potential customer? I can! You see, it does not matter how the economy is, people treat customers the same way. I can remember in the good times, people barely moved a muscle to help you...they knew someone else would come along. Today, most people are not all that different.
So, keep yourself separate from the pack, focus on your customer and put their needs first. It can do a world of good for your business.

Why is it that the media always seems to be behind the times? Don't get me wrong, I think media has an important role, but it just seems that all that ever makes the news anymore is the bad, tragic or horrible news. I am thrilled that people started sending letters to the media asking for more positive stories. I think it is the start of something. As I have said, if we can get more people thinking positive, the better off we would be. Think about this scenario, people are not spending...even people who have money. I recently read an article about a multi-millionaire doctor who is just paying for essentials. WHAT? Panic is spread very easily and is VERY contagious. So, if we have the media reporting "happier" stories, maybe, just maybe we can get on some sort of road to recovery. Just my two sense!
